The autobiography of Fulvia Schiff, born in Gorizia, and who grew up in Trieste and Catania, until Italian race laws forced her and her family to flee to Albania. With the capitulation of Italy she returned to Gorizia, by then annexed to the Third Reich, but she survived to spend the final months of the war in Milan, where she eventually met an allied soldier whom she married.
This book forms the basis for the first 130 pages of the book 'Trieste' by Dasa Drndic (also published in other languages under the title 'Sonnenschein').
